Anu, a Gujarati housewife cooks up a storm in the Kitchen and outside. Determined to make a difference, she got involved as soon as she realized a Signal Free Corridor was to come. (One wonders where she gets the time knowing she is already working on so many projects just within Whitefield Rising. But this is what happens when you love what you do.) Joining hands with 4 other like minded people, they retrieved the Engineering Drawings for the Corridor, understood the impact for Whitefield and have proposed changes crucial to a successful implementation one of which is close citizen monitoring. Communicating this properly was crucial. So Arvind, an IIT Graduate techie from Tamilnadu, avid cyclist and deep thinker jumped right in, helped put up the message effectively and even carted his heavy monitor all the way to the main BBMP office. Why did 5 people who never knew each other before bond so quickly and work so hard to do this for us? Because the issue bothered them, they had interest in finding a good solution and felt like Pessimism and skepticism abound. But until you try getting involved, you wont know the fun they are having along the way. They are following the age old “Ask not what the country can do for you….” Like them, everyday, new people are joining this movement.
